A Week of Growth
This past week, I learned a lot—about my business, technology, and yes, even how not to do it. There’s no sugarcoating it: progress can be frustrating when you overcomplicate things (thanks, ChatGPT). But beyond the setbacks, there’s growth, and I’m starting to find a rhythm that works. Let’s break down how everything played out.
Shifting My Strategy
After digging into more research, I realized that my initial target market might not have been the best fit. This prompted me to reconsider my approach.
Instead of fixating on a single sector, I’m developing a multi-pronged strategy:
Big Retail: Eventually targeting large retailers for a broader adoption.
Smaller Businesses: Testing and refining with smaller businesses, like restaurants and cafes, to build early traction and demonstrate value.
By giving myself more flexibility, I’m reducing the risk of putting all my energy into one niche, while still keeping opportunities open for growth.
Making Sense of the Process
Tech doesn’t have to be complicated—unless you’re following ChatGPT blindly! I spent a good few hours going down the wrong path, only to later realize I could’ve done it easily from my phone. Lesson learned sometimes the simplest solution is the best one.
On the technical side, I’m currently focused on:
Building a cloud-based backend to handle dynamic content, so the system is scalable and ready for real-world testing. Firebase is the choice here.
Refining my code: I’m ensuring everything works seamlessly before moving to more advanced features.
While tech can be overwhelming, the key is keeping it simple and focusing on incremental improvements, rather than over-complicating the process from the start.
Consistency and Adaptation
Consistency has been my best friend through this journey. I’ve stuck to two hours a day of dedicated time on my business, and it’s paying off. It's about showing up, every day, whether it’s easy or not. Those two hours don’t always feel productive, but the cumulative effect is undeniable.
Here are a few key lessons from the week:
Adapt quickly: If something isn’t working, pivot. Whether it’s tech or business, the ability to recognize what needs to change is crucial.
Trust your gut: While tools like ChatGPT can be helpful, don’t lose sight of your instincts. If something feels overly complicated, there’s probably a simpler way.
Balance is everything: I’ve been making sure not to burn out by spreading my attention evenly across tech, business, and my own growth.
Looking Ahead
Next week, I’ll be diving deeper into the integration side of things while keeping my business strategy flexible. I’ve got my eye on testing with small businesses before attempting any larger scale deployments. The key is steady progress and learning from each misstep.
So here’s my advice: ask ChatGPT how not to do it, but then get back on track and trust your own approach.
